Corton André 2005 Le Château Pinot Noir (Aloxe-Corton)

This monopole (wholly-owned vineyard) is in the heart of the village of Aloxe-Corton. The 2005 is structured and wood-dominated at this stage; the dense fruit and the sweet, ripe, red berry acidity are waiting to develop into a wine that will be rich, smooth and velvety. Give it 6 years at least.  — R.V.  (8/1/2008)

Corton André 2005 Les Blanchots Premier Cru Chardonnay (Chassagne-Montrachet)

This wine combines both the richness of 2005 with the minerality of the terroir, a balance that works well. It is certainly full but never overblown, restrained by a streak of steel and by the green apple flavors.  — R.V.  (8/1/2008)

Corton André 2005 Clos de la Commaraine Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Pommard)

Very Pommard, very structured, this is a dense and dark wine that shows big black fruits over dry tannins. It’s big, firm, muscular, a powerhouse of firmness and richness.  — R.V.  (8/1/2008)

Soft, ripe and generous, this is a delicious, spicy wine with a backbone of great tannins. The aftertaste shows layers of acidity and fresh red berry fruits.  — R.V.  (8/1/2008)

Corton André 2005 Les Damodes Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Nuits-St.-Georges)

  • Online Exclusive
Floral and aromatic, this wine is the opposite of the typical tannic Nuits-St.-Georges. It is lively, with vibrant red fruits, great rich black cherry flavors, with a light layer of tannin providing structure.  — R.V.  (8/1/2008)

Corton André 2005 Chardonnay (Meursault)

  • Online Exclusive
A wide-open, creamy wine, with flavors of ripe apples. It is round, generous, full-bodied, only just touched by minerality and edged with wood. Drink over the next 2–3 years.  — R.V.  (8/1/2008)

Corton André 2005 Aux Clous Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Savigny-lès-Beaune)

  • Online Exclusive
Firm, rustic and earthy initially, then showing red cherries and ripe fruits. The freshness comes through this soft, delicate wine, which lacks concentration.  — R.V.  (8/1/2008)
