Cuvaison 2005 Estate Selection Block S Chardonnay (Carneros)
-
$36
There have been Estate Selection Chards from Cuvaison before, but never a block bottling. This wine fully merits its status and price. Tightly angular and acidic in youth, it’s very minerally, with a gunmetal tang to the oak-infused Meyer lemon, green apple and green pear flavors. One of the rare California Chardonnays not ready on release, this Chablis-style wine…

Cuvaison 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)
-
$38
The fabulous ’01 Napa Cabs just keep on coming. This one, a blend from various parts of the appellation, is extraordinarily rich in black currants, wrapped in the finest, smoothest tannins. It offers pure Cabernet pleasure, not a blockbuster, but defining elegance. Drink in the near term to enjoy its youthful beauty.

Cuvaison 1996 ATS Selection Chardonnay (Carneros)
-
$43
Everything in this wine’s presentation, from the price to the waxed seal to the frosted bottle, speaks of its aspirations. So does it succeed? In a word, yes. Aromas and flavors of green apples, tangerine, oriental spice and oak. Reeks of class and style, like a great Italian suit. Young and joltingly tight, with dusty tannins, but should mellow with time.

Cuvaison 2005 Block F5 Pinot Noir (Carneros)
-
$45
This is easily Cuvaison’s best Pinot Noir ever. It’s not only delicious right out of the bottle, it’s an ager. Really flatters the palate with appealing cherry, black raspberry, cola and tangerine fruit, wrapped in a silky texture. Yet it shows a dense, tightly tannic quality that suggest up to 8 years in the cellar.
