Cyrus 1999 Wetzel Family Estate Red (Alexander Valley)

  1. $50
Profoundly rich and complex, a blend of all five Bordeaux varietals. This results in a melange of flavors including blackcurrants and cassis, olives and sweet roasted peppers, dried herbs, and cured tobacco. The tannins are soft, but there is a boost of firm acidity that suggests ageability.  — S.H.  (8/1/2003)

Cyrus 1998 Red (Alexander Valley)

  1. $50
Loaded up front with bright fruit redolent of blueberry, plum and black cherry. An attractive tangy edge gives lift, while toasty oak rounds things off. Though light-textured, the wine still carries plenty of weight and is lovely and long to the end. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec from Alexander Valley Vineyards.  — J.M.  (6/1/2002)

Cyrus 1995 Red (Sonoma County)

  1. $35
This is a new proprietary wine from the Wetzel Family Estate, owners of Alexander Valley Vineyards. It’s a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. The wine is of medium weight and intensity, well balanced with brambly blackberry and raspberry fruit. The finish is on the short side.  — L.W.  (12/31/1999)
