A very good wine at a fair price, De Bortoli's Vat 8 features just enough leather and spice layered over blackberry, blueberry and vanilla flavors to impart complexity without overshadowing the fruit. Finishes a bit crisp, with the emphasis on tart berry flavors.

Here’s a sweet, easy-drinking Shiraz that’s made to please the masses. Candied red-berry fruit is laced with caramel and toasty oak. Hints of black pepper on the nose and finish remind you that you’re drinking Shiraz.

This easy-drinking Shiraz features some plummy—almost pruny—fruit aromas, facile plum and berry flavors, little tannin and bright acids on the finish.

Even De Bortoli’s less expensive wines often show decent structure; this wine’s firm tannins frame somewhat simple grape and blueberry fruit while calling for a fatty burger to help bring them into balance. Picks up a hint of coffee on the finish.
