The name refers to the earth terraces, an essential hallmark of the Douro vineyards. The wine, a blend of Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca, is relatively light, its character coming from the black currant fruits, the dark layer of tannins and the smoky oak aromas. It needs a year to be ready for drinking.

With some good, firm, dry tannins over fresh berry fruits, this is a structured, mineral and steel Douro wine. As the wine opens, its fruit comes to dominate, giving a fresh, elegant wine, touched with soft wood.
