Domados 2007 Rosillo Malbec (Mendoza)
Best Buy
Price
$12
Concentrated black-grape and dark-berry aromas are almost jammy, while the palate is soft but generous, with rich plum and blackberry flavors. This is in the lush and dark category, with finishing notes of chocolate and fig paste. Just balanced enough to not seem heavy.

More oily and burnt smelling than floral and tropical, with a heavy-ish palate that is surprisingly tart and crisp in terms of flavors. Grabby and leaning towards bitter on the finish. Decent but fails to rise to the occasion.

A touch plump and dull, but if you catch this wine soon you will still get tropical fruit, citrus and nectarine aromas and flavors along with a pithy, residual finish. Lacks drama and pizzazz; won’t last much longer.

Domados 2007 Rosillo Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendoza)
Online Exclusive
Price
$12
Mildly pickled red-fruit aromas fail to convey freshness or ripeness, and so it’s no surprise that the core flavors are a bit herbal and briney. Decent mouthfeel helps it along, while the finish is short and borders on medicinal.

Domados 2008 Rosillo Malbec (Mendoza)

Price

A pickled, mildly stemmy wine with lean, stingy flavors of herbal berry fruit. Has a lot of clack, smack and acidic bite and not much richness, roundness and fullness of flavor. O.K. but still deficient as Argentinean Malbec goes.
