Domaine de Coste Chaude 2003 Jupiter Visan Red (Côtes du Rhône Villages)

A blend of wines matured in vat and barrel, adding subtle vanilla and woodspice shadings the bold Coste Chaude fruit. It’s lush and soft on the palate, broad and expansive on the finish, picking up hints of chocolate and mocha.  — J.C.  (11/15/2006)

Domaine de Coste Chaude 2004 La Rocaille Visan Red (Côtes du Rhône Villages)

Aged entirely in vat, this old-vines cuvée from selected parcels features a rich, creamy texture but also great peppery spice. Cassis and mulberry flavors provide power and length on the finish. Drink 2007–2012.  — J.C.  (11/15/2006)

Domaine de Coste Chaude 2004 L'Argentière Visan Red (Côtes du Rhône Villages)

This is the same wine as the La Rocaille, but aged in barrel, which has given it a slightly lusher texture as well as hints of cedar, vanilla and chocolate. It’s just a stylistic difference, not a qualitative one.  — J.C.  (11/15/2006)

Domaine de Coste Chaude 2005 Red (Côtes du Rhône Villages)

Denser and fleshier than the 2005 Tradition, with dark berry flavors that lean toward cassis. Shows firm tannins on the finish, but excellent fruit as well. Unlike the Tradition, this bottling needs time; hold 1–2 years.  — J.C.  (11/15/2006)

This flavorful red has an intriguing nose of lavender, fresh herbs and campfire smoke giving way to a crisp, cherry-flavored palate that's got just a bit of grip to it. The long, intense finish is reminiscent of a mocha and cream liquor.  — W.E.  (10/15/2010)

Domaine de Coste Chaude 2006 Jupiter Visan Red (Côtes du Rhône Villages)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $19
This one spent a little too long on the vine, resulting in confected notes on the nose and cooked flavors in the mouth. Finish is grippy and slightly alcoholic.  — W.E.  (10/15/2010)
