Spices and red fruits dominate the aromas of this powerful tannic wine, from a small estate right at the southern end of the Côte Rôtie. There are heady perfumes and ripe fruit, but at this stage the wood dominates, and it could be at least five years before the fruit is able to come through. — R.V. (6/1/2002)
