The Les Cras vineyard lies right against the hillside in chalky soil with low vigor. The tannins of this wine are much firmer than is typical of other Chambolle-Musignys. There are aromas of spice and smoked meat on the nose. The fruit is very structured and solid, but also ripe. There is a smoky, toasty aftertaste. — R.V. (11/1/2002)
