Domaine la Garrigue 2003 Cuvée de l'Hostellerie Grenache-Syrah (Vacqueyras)
Deeper and more profound than La Garrigue's regular cuvée--just a notch above in every way. The coffee notes are deeper, more like espresso. The tannins are creamier. The fruit flavors darker. Too bad it's not available in the U.S.

Domaine la Garrigue 2004 Traditional Reserve Red (Vacqueyras)

Nicely perfumed, with cherry and raspberry fruit leading the way. A hint of coffee adds darkness and depth, while peach shadings bring a brighter note. A bit light in body, but pretty and elegant, gaining tannic strength on the finish. Drink now–2012.

Domaine la Garrigue 2003 Traditionnelle Red (Vacqueyras)

Coffee, leather and spice aromas are nicely balanced on the palate by raspberry fruit. Clamps down a bit on the finish with some firm tannins that need 2-3 years to resolve. Not available in the U.S.
