Domaine Machard de Gramont 1999 Les Nazoires Pinot Noir (Chambolle-Musigny)

Smoky wood dominates this wine, both on the nose and on the palate. It is rich, with toasty wood flavors. Spice and toast combine with the concentrated flavors of dark plums and chocolate. To finish, there is a fine streak of acidity. This is a modern style of wine, which should balance well over the next two years.  — R.V.  (11/1/2002)

Domaine Machard de Gramont 2000 Les Nazoires Pinot Noir (Chambolle-Musigny)

Bertrand Machard de Gramont’s Chambolle-Musigny is modern in style, with dominating aromas of new wood, spice and toast. To taste, the fruit is rich, with layers of acidity and flavors of green figs. The pure fruit flavors are supported by the wood.  — R.V.  (11/1/2002)

Domaine Machard de Gramont 2004 Les Houilères Chardonnay (Puligny-Montrachet)

  1. $47
Aromas of toast dominate this wine, but the palate is better balanced with citrus and apple flavors. But it does need time for the wood to calm and to integrate. Don’t confuse this Machard de Gramont with the one owned by Bertrand Machard de Gramont—this is Burgundy.  — R.V.  (12/1/2006)
