This wine starts off a bit smoky and cedary, but with time it develops more typical Hermitage notes of cassis, hickory smoke and meat. It’s medium to full in body, with a rich texture and long finish. Approachable now, but should age easily through 2018.

Made only from Roussanne, one might expect a dramatically different style of Hermitage. But not so much. Like other Hermitage's, this is broad, full bodied and lushly textured, without much in the way of distinctive fruit aromas. Long and mouthwatering on the finish. Unknown aging potential.

Slightly more concentrated and structured than the Jaboulet’s regular bottling of Crozes-Hermitage, the 2007 Nouvelère features fresh cherry and berry fruit admirably supported by hints of oak. It’s medium to full in body, with soft tannins and a slightly dusty finish. Drink now–2020.

There’s a new Jaboulet in town. Actually, this is the same family that put Paul Jaboulet Aîné on the map, but they’ve sold that company off and have started small again. The 2005 Crozes-Hermitage is a medium-bodied, juicy, fruity wine powered by plums and blackberries. There’s ample concentration and persistence, it just needs more complexity.

Intense black color. Very inexpressive on the nose nose with some muted plum fruits. Edgy crispness and chunky texture with flavors of sour plum, prune, strong coffee and balsamic notes. Moderate finish with a spicy, tart grip.
