Better known for his Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine Roger Sabon actually owns more acreage on the Lirac side of the river. This cuvée, made from 40-50-year-old vines, is a big, muscular Lirac marked by hints of tree bark and dark, plummy fruit. Powerful and long on the finish; drink from 2008–2015.  — J.C.  (11/15/2006)
