A bit less cinnamon and clove than the 2003, with more forward, darker fruit flavors like black cherry and plum, yet also more black pepper. Brighter acidity makes it seem more lively and complete. Drink now–2010.

A blend of 80% Grenache and the rest Syrah and Mourvèdre that matured in vat for close to two years, this is a tremendously spice-driven wine, offering plenty of clove and cinnamon aromatics. Yet it's also round and supple in the mouth, marked by cherry and leather flavors that form a solid base for the spicy complexities.
