Domìni Veneti 1999 Red (Amarone della Valpolicella Classico)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $39
Immensely sweet, both in terms of aromatics and flavors. The bouquet oozes bacon, vanilla, blackberry and coconut-tinged oak. The palate delivers layers of black fruit as well as pepper, bitter chocolate and caramel. The finish is firm yet not overbearing. Give it five years and it should be a stellar wine. Editors’ Choice.  — W.E.  (5/1/2003)

Domìni Veneti 2000 Red (Amarone della Valpolicella Classico)

  • Online Exclusive
Beautiful density and color characterize this wine as do its layered notes of exotic spice, cardamom, curry and roasted nut. Plush, full red fruit and cherry build in intensity, especially on the palate, creating a rich wine with a firm backbone, smooth texture and dusty notes on the finish.  — M.L.  (12/1/2007)

Domìni Veneti 2004 Vigneti di Jago Red (Amarone della Valpolicella Classico)

  • Online Exclusive
Luscious, ripe and opulent, this is a gorgeous Amarone from the Classico zone with thick aromatic layers of mature cherry, exotic spice, polished mineral, plum and prune. There’s excellent density, succulence and texture here; the wine would pair with spicy marinated pork or beef.  — M.L.  (2/1/2011)

There’s a smooth, elegant quality to this Amarone that translates as black stone, exotic spice, cola and soft black fruit. The wine is also very plush and rich on the close with firm, but velvety tannins.  — M.L.  (2/1/2011)

Domìni Veneti 1999 La Casetta Ripasso Red (Valpolicella Classico Superiore)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $20
This is an excellent ripasso, one that is loaded with plum, raisin and earth. The flavors are a perfect combination of toast, black cherry, blueberry and baking spices. And the finish is healthy: There’s length, ripe tannins, good acids and lots of chocolate and licorice. Full-bodied, chewy and rewarding.  — W.E.  (5/1/2003)

Domìni Veneti 2002 Red (Amarone della Valpolicella Classico)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $39
Dark as night, with touches of aged balsamic vinegar, black olive and fruitcake on the rich, youthful bouquet. As a brand new Amarone, it’s full of rock-hard tannins and intensity. Definitely chewy and big at this point, but with plenty of fruit in reserve. It should settle down in the years to come.  — W.E.  (11/1/2005)
