Donatella Cinelli Colombini 1999 Riserva Sangiovese (Brunello di Montalcino)
Cellar Selection
Price
$65
Saturated to the max, with a violet/ruby tint that shows no breaks. If it looks like an extracted bruiser, it is. The tannins are big and precise, however, they aren’t aggressive or mean. In a fine-tuned cellar this will come around in about five years to show amazing black cherry and plum fruit, and lots of style. Imported by Supreme Wines & Spirits.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini 2006 Riserva Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello di Montalcino)
Online Exclusive
Price
$70
From an all-female winery, this riserva opens with a deep garnet color. Black espresso bean, vanilla pod, toasted chestnut and dark, brooding fruit characterize the bouquet. It is bright and crisp in the mouth, with a sharply defined edge and polished tannins.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini 2001 Sangiovese (Brunello di Montalcino)

Enthusiastic applause across the panel for this blockbuster wine made by superstar enologist Carlo Ferrini. Modern, concentrated and packed with plump fruit, black pepper highlights, vanilla and chewy meatiness. One panelist likened it to Californian Syrah. Does not bode well for Brunello purists, but it is a rich, powerful wine that leaves a dry, chewy finish and…

Donatella Cinelli Colombini 2000 Riserva Sangiovese (Brunello di Montalcino)
Editors' Choice
Price
$65
A unique treat from a winery managed by women only. It offers a delicate nose with dried oregano, floral notes, cedar wood, mint candy and dark cherries. Lively and intense in the mouth and tightly framed by a compact structure and soft wood tones. Beautiful, tingly sensation in the mouth that lasts a very long time. Imported by Supreme Wines & Spirits.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini 2004 Riserva Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello di Montalcino)
Cellar Selection
Price
$95
Here’s a meaty and ripe Brunello Riserva with aromas of mature fruit, leather, tar and smoked ham or bacon. The wine is plush and full with enormous intensity and persistency. It’s also beautifully smooth in the mouth and although it already drinks well now, you could cellar it ten years or more.
