Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler Winery is owned by Dr. Peter Pauly and his wife Helga. However the winemaking tradition of the Pauly-Bergweiler family dates back to the 16th century. In fact Dr. Peter Pauly, born in 1939, has a Ph.D. in agricultural science and is the offspring of the longstanding wine families Bergweiler and Prüm, first mentioned in official records in 1156. Dr. Pauly's grandfather, Zacharias Bergweiler, was considered one of the most respected wine-growers in the Mosel. Dr. Pauly took over his grandfather’s estate while still in school creating what is now Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler Vineyards. Our Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler reviews illustrate that the combination of cool climate, steep slopes and the Devonian slate help to make Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler wines some of the best Rieslings in all of Germany. Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler vineyards (about 42 acres in total) are located in some of the prime areas of Bernkastel, Wehlen, Graach, Zeltingen, Ürzig, Erden und Brauneberg and are planted with almost entirely Riesling.
