Dreyer Sonoma 2001 Chardonnay (Sonoma County)

An exceptionally rich and delicious Chardonnay for the money, and a great value. Oodles of peach, pear and tropical fruit flavors cascade over the palate; the wine is sturdy enough to support the substantial oak with which it has been lavished.  — S.H.  (12/1/2003)

Dreyer Sonoma 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon (Sonoma County)

  • Best Buy
  1. $14
There’s some really fine Cabernet character in this affordable wine, which contains 10% Merlot. It’s got black-currant and plum fruit, finely etched and pure, with a light touch of oak, and there’s some real substance and depth of flavor. You’ll be surprised at the classiness at this price. It’s a mystery how this winery achieves wines this good when they could be…  — S.H.  (12/15/2000)

Dreyer Sonoma 2000 Chardonnay (Sonoma County)

  • Best Buy
  1. $10
Very ripe apple and peach fruit stands out in this nice wine. It’s got a honeyed richness that extends through the clean, spicy finish. Dry and crisp, it’s a great value in a complex, varietally true Chardonnay. —S.H.  — S.H.  (5/1/2002)

Dreyer Sonoma 1999 Chardonnay (Sonoma County)

  • Best Buy
  1. $10
If you didn’t know the price and had to guess, you’d probably figure this wine would cost about $18. It’s enormously ripe and fruity, with bright peach, tropical fruits and spices and quite a bit of oak. The technical notes say it was partially barrel-fermented. A wine of enormous charm and a great value in Chardonnay.  — S.H.  (2/1/2001)

Dreyer Sonoma 1998 Chardonnay (Sonoma County)

  1. $10
The nose is welcoming, with aromas of buttered toast and spice. But the flavors are overwhelmingly lemony and tart—a strange amalgam that doesn’t quite come together.  — W.E.  (10/1/2000)
