Durigutti 2003 Reserva Malbec (Mendoza)

  1. $29
Violet in color, with persistent, potent aromas of mint, marzipan and black cherry. This is not your run-of-the-mill soft Malbec; on the contrary, it’s peppered with piercing acidity, which yields a can’t-miss freshness. Flavorwise, we’re talking zesty boysenberry and raspberry.  — M.S.  (12/1/2006)

Durigutti 2004 Bonarda (Mendoza)

  • Best Buy
  1. $10
As Bonarda goes, this wine is one of the best I’ve tried. From the onset there’s pure fruit on the nose along with hints of mint and vanilla. The palate beams with red cherry, plum and chocolate. It’s a statuesque red with the price of a thousand inferior wines. Highly recommended should you come across it.  — M.S.  (2/1/2007)

Durigutti 2005 Reserva Malbec (Mendoza)

  1. $25
A tiny whiff of alfalfa is about all that stands in the way of excellence. This is very good Malbec with a fit body and a quiet sort of approach. The palate emphasizes nice red fruit, but there’s still that touch of grassiness at its core. Not overly ripe or hefty; it’s a more restrained style with ample elegance.  — M.S.  (2/1/2009)

Durigutti 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendoza)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $17
Shows good berry and black cherry on the nose, with earth, marmalade and a jammy-baked quality. Good and solid overall, but with pointed acidity that causes the berry and plum flavors to come across sizzling and high-toned. Tastes like real Cabernet, while the acidity makes it edgy.  — M.S.  (3/1/2012)

Durigutti 2003 Malbec (Mendoza)

  1. $12
Purple in color, with oaky aromas manifested in the form of sawdust, cinnamon and chocolate. Ripe berry and plum notes carry the toasty palate, and the finish comes back with additional chocolate, toast and vanilla. Rich and solid. Imported by Southern Wine Group.  — M.S.  (12/31/2005)

Durigutti 2004 Familia Red (Mendoza)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $58
Powerful in Zinny character, this blend of Dry Creek and Russian River grapes bursts with brawny flavors of wild berries, chocolate-covered mint, tobacco and pepper, wrapped into sturdy tannins. Shows real class and character.  — M.S.  (8/1/2009)

Durigutti 2006 Reserva Malbec (Mendoza)

  1. $23
Very dark and sultry, its hard, oak-based bouquet showing shoe polish, asphalt and maple syrup. This one pours on the heft and heat, and thus the flavors of black fruit fall into the monster strata. Finishes with licorice, clove and burnt-wood spice. Extremely ripe and oaky, but still a good modern Malbec.  — M.S.  (12/1/2009)

Durigutti 2006 Bonarda (Mendoza)

  1. $11
A solid example of Bonarda in fine but straightforward form. There’s a comfortable attack to the palate, with likable plum and blackberry flavors. It goes a long way on the finish, and as a whole it meets or exceeds expectations. Give this a try if you’re interested in Argentinean Bonarda.  — M.S.  (2/1/2009)
