Edmunds St John 1998 Alban/Durell Vineyards Viognier

  1. $20
From two famed vineyards, this Rhône specialist has crafted a superb Viognier. Strikes a fascinating balance between the fruity, wildflower side and the mineral, herbal one. Gentle, complex and powerful. Stands out in any crowd.  — S.H.  (10/1/1999)

Edmunds St John 1997 Fenaughty Vineyard Syrah (El Dorado County)

  1. $30
Almost black in color, with amazing aromas of pepper, plum, blackberry, earth, dark chocolate and oak. So much depth and complexity, it wows you. Very tannic now, but with all this going for it, it should be spectacular in a few years.  — S.H.  (6/1/1999)

Edmunds St John 1996 Durell Vineyard Syrah (Sonoma Valley)

  1. $25
Classic Rhône aromas of pepper, leather, smoke, animal, spice, vanilla and berry. Ripe and complex, and not as tannic as the Fenaughty Syrah, but very sweet and extracted fruit. You could drink it now but it should improve.  — S.H.  (6/1/1999)

Edmunds St John 2000 Los Robles Viejos Rozet White (Paso Robles)

  1. $24
This Rhône-inspired blend of Viognier and Roussanne certainly has a lot of fruit, filling the mouth with white peaches, sweet green apples and honeyed spearmint flavors, yet it’s quite dry and crisp, and finishes with a lively, clean aftertaste.  — S.H.  (12/15/2002)

Edmunds St John 1999 Wylie-Fenaughty Syrah (El Dorado)

  1. $32
Decidedly grapey aromas and flavors abound here--it's wine, yes, but somehow the grapiness got to us. Aromas are so sweet and fruity that they are almost liquerish; mouthfeel is full, though slightly hot. Stemmy, citrusy and metallic flavors also make appearances on palate and finish.  — W.E.  (11/1/2001)
