Features complex aromas of wild berries, stewed tomato, spices, herbs, and rich earth. Taut acidity makes it a little less charming than many California Pinots, but should give it decent longevity. Delicious now but will improve with a few years of age.

Pale and tart, as befits this chilly appellation, the wine has tomato, cola, beetroot and herb aromas and drinks acidly tight and austere. There are hints of strawberries, but it’s an herbal, earthy wine, although the tannins are silky soft. May soften and mellow with five plus years in the cellar. —S.H.

Easy and direct, this Pinot shows candied flavors of raspberries, oatmeal cookies and vanilla-covered red currants. Likeable for its clean, silky mouthfeel. Drink now.
