Ellen Landing 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon (Riverland)
Price
$19
This easy-to-drink Cabernet’s black and white peppercorn aromas jazz up the berry-and-cream bouquet. The palate’s bright red-currant flavors are shadowed by a medium-length, spicy-hot finish with an almost ancho-chile quality.

Ellen Landing 2000 Shiraz (Riverland)
Price
$19
Pleasing though simple, with red fruit, caramel-oak and earth flavors, with earth and black pepper notes on the nose. Medium-weight and bouncy; one reviewer found it a little too lactic.

Ellen Landing 1999 Shiraz (Riverland)
Price
$16
Though the nose has deep blackberry and blueberry aromas, some reviewers were turned off by what they describe as a lumbery-mallowy note. The palate shows loads of oak, plus Sweet-Tart and cranberry flavors. Mouthfeel is even, though a tad acidic; finishes with a tart, lemon-white pepper edge.

Ellen Landing 1999 Petit Verdot (Riverland)
Price
$19
This is, perhaps, one of the strangest wines I have ever tasted. The aromas are of the sea—brine and seaweed—over a smidge of blackberry fruit. Ditto the palate. Medium-bodied, not too tannic, and ends with a black peppery note that evens out once the wine sits for a few minutes. Bizarre.
