Emblem 2007 Oso Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $50
Lots of rich, ripe varietal flavor in this dry, tannic young Cabernet. It’s strong in blackberries and cassis, with a cedary edge that has the scent of a cigar box. Firm enough to develop some bottle complexity over the next 6 years or so.  — S.H.  (3/1/2011)

Emblem 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (Rutherford)

  1. $50
This is a very good Cab to drink now for its firm, dry mouthfeel and ripe flavors of cherries, currants and cedar. It feels elegant and distinguished. But it’s also thick in dusty tannins, and should slowly evolve in the bottle for 6–7 years.  — S.H.  (3/1/2011)

Emblem 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (Rutherford)

  1. $50
Soft and fruity, this Cabernet has fruit-forward flavors of blackberry, cherry pie and smoky oak. It’s a tasty wine whose firm tannins suggest decanting for a few hours before service. Drink over the next few years.  — S.H.  (6/1/2012)

Lots to like in this Cabernet, which has ripe, juicy flavors of blackberry, plum, dark chocolate and flashy oak. Made thoroughly in the modern style, it’s marked by soft tannins and a certain uniformity. Drink now.  — S.H.  (6/1/2012)

Good as far as it goes, but common, with ripe black cherry, cocoa and herb flavors, and oaky accents. Could be from anywhere. Drink now.  — S.H.  (12/1/2009)

Shows nice blackberry, cocoa and cedar flavors, and is properly dry. But there’s some green unripeness, and a clunky edge to the tannins.  — S.H.  (12/1/2009)
