A beautiful wine at an affordable price. All of the hallmarks of a good Bordeaux blend are here—firm tannins, solid, spicy flavors of plum, cedar and mocha, an elegant balance of acid and fruit. It’s a big wine with a poised touch. Drink now or give it 3–5 years to stretch.

The Proprietor’s Blend starts with an intriguing nose of sweet cedar, black currant and violet, followed by classic flavors of black fruit, leather and spice. Good tannins and minerality keep it elegant but ageable. An impressive balance of New and Old World styles.

A collaboration between Rust en Vrede’s Jean Engelbrecht and golf star Ernie Els, this blend is a balance of fruity, spicy Shiraz and earthy Bordeaux—a testament to the two styles the winemaking partners enjoy. On the nose are hints of mint and spice, and on the palate, heavy oak adds a woody element. Ample structure but still smooth.
