Engelmann 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz (California)
Price
$16
From a winery in the Central Valley town of Fresno, this is a light-bodied wine with faint tastes of berries. The tannins are soft to the point of nonexistence, and acidity is low.

Engelmann 2000 Very Old Vine Zinfandel (California)
Price
$12
Whatever “very old vine” means, and there’s no legal definition, this is not very good Zin. It’s hot and harsh, with awkward acids and tannins.

Engelmann 2000 Sangiovese (California)
Price
$12
Pretty harsh going. This is a rough-edged bruiser, with tart acids and what tastes like too much residual sugar for a red wine that should be dry. The flavors are thin.
