Eponymous 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $59
Shows its pedigree in the very fine quality of the tannins. They’re sturdy but ripely sweet, providing a classic structure to the blackberries, black cherries, currants and sweet cedar wood. It’s good now, and should develop in the bottle through 2012, although it doesn’t seem likely to go beyond that.  — S.H.  (4/1/2010)

Eponymous 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $50
From Bob Pepi, a classically structured wine that showcases how beautifully ripe Napa Cab can get, and how rich the tannins can be, grown in the right terroir and made by the right hands. The wine is dry and powerful in cassis and currant flavors that are well-oaked, and it has the body and firmness to age. Drink now through 2012.  — S.H.  (3/1/2006)

Eponymous 2009 Syrah (Napa Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $36
A lush, smooth and frankly delicious Syrah that exhibits the only-in-California style. Fruit doesn’t get much riper than this bottle of blueberries and chocolate. But with finely ground tannins and good acidity, it has proper structure. Drink over the next two years for freshness.  — S.H.  (12/15/2011)

Eponymous 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $59
The great ’07s continue to roll out. Nearing four years of age, this Cabernet is quite soft, although it was probably soft to begin with. It’s showing a few signs of age, with the rich, ripe, chocolaty flavors of blackberries, cherries and cassis beginning to dry out. Should continue to mellow in the bottle over the next six years.  — S.H.  (8/1/2011)

Eponymous 2000 Red Wine Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot (Napa Valley)

  1. $50
A new wine from Robert Pepi, and an ambitious one. The veteran winemaker has crafted an aromatic, rather tannic wine of great structure and potential. Shows ripe blackberry and cherry flavors that are elaborately oaked, with fresh acidity. Drink after 2006. Mostly Cabernet with a splash of Merlot.  — S.H.  (10/1/2004)

Eponymous 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $59
Needs some time in the cellar to resolve the ponderous tannins, and to let the extremely ripe fruit marry with the oak overlay. With strong flavors of blackberries, currants, plums, dark chocolate and cedar, it should start to knit together after 2010.  — S.H.  (4/1/2009)

Eponymous 2005 MacAllister Vineyard Red (Sonoma Valley)

  1. $46
This is a voluptuous Bordeaux blend based on Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s soft, lush and extremely ripe, flooding the mouth with blackberry and cherry jam, cassis, cocoa, sweet fresh green herb and spice flavors. Best now and for a few years, before it sheds its fruit.  — S.H.  (4/1/2009)

Eponymous 2008 MacAllister Vineyard Red (Sonoma Valley)

  1. $46
There’s something lusty about this wine. It’s the strong berry, cherry and chocolate flavors, combined with powerful tannins and an immediately delicious umami taste. Seems best now.  — S.H.  (8/1/2011)
