Esperanza 2009 Verdejo (Rueda)
Online Exclusive
Price
$15
Very good for the region, with minerally aromas, sweat and nettle, and then green fruit scents like lime and apple. The palate has a sheer, clean quality along with mineral notes in front of lemon and tangerine flavors. Then it ends in light, airy, correct fashion. A nice Verdejo to drink right away.

Esperanza 2008 Verdejo-Viura (Rueda)
Online Exclusive
Price
$15
A clean, almost oceanic opening is fresh and citrusy as it should be, while the palate shows pulse, balance and a little scour to go with orange, grapefruit and other citrusy flavors. Pithy and biting late, with ample fruit throughout.

Esperanza 2003 Verdejo (Rueda)
Best Buy
Price
$10
A bit fuller than the Verdejo-Viura blend but every bit as functional and satisfying. Melon, pineapple and passion fruit aromas are full rather than crisp, while the grapefruit and orange flavors sizzle. More than decent length, structure and finish.

Esperanza 2003 Verdejo-Viura White (Rueda)
Best Buy
Price
$9
Intriguing and nice, with pungent yet typical aromas of citrus, nettles and wildflower. Citrus, chalk and mineral character on the palate is exactly as expected, while the finish is quite long and stays the course. An enjoyable white wine.

Esperanza 2010 Verdejo-Viura (Rueda)
Price
$12
Starts out with pineapple, dusty mineral and stemmy aromas. Melony and soft in the mouth, with honeydew and nectarine flavors. Finishes soft, standard and a little mealy. 70% Verdejo with 30% Viura.

Esperanza 2003 Sauvignon Blanc (Rueda)
Price
$10
The word esperanza means “hope” in Spanish, but there’s almost no hope for this sharp-nosed S.B. that has little besides oversized banana and pickle flavors to offer. Barely acceptable.
