Fairview 2002 Beacon Shiraz (Paarl)

Opaque and very dense on the nose with deep, focused, black plum and berry fruit. Toasty oak is nicely melded with the strong fruit, adding smoke and tobacco notes. A chewy mouthfeel and long dark finish complete the package. Should improve through 2006, and hold well beyond that.  — M.M.  (11/15/2004)

Aromas of baking spices, dried herbs and toast lead to endive and tart blackberry on the lean palate. After the green note on the finish, a bloom of blueberry toast lasts all too briefly. —K.F.  — K.F.  (4/1/2003)
