This is a youthful wine that’s a bit rough right now. It starts out with bacon and tar-like aromas before shifting into a mouthful of cherry fruit. The finish is tight and grainy, while the overall profile is tannic and jumpy. Some time in the bottle should help it all come together.

The wine kicks off with raisin and lemon pith notes. Next come sweet but off-kilter flavors of prune, boysenberry and sugar beet. The finish is packed in tight, but the core is a bit sour. This wine is like the proverbial hare: It starts out fast but fades before the finish line.
