Smoky and dark, with serious aromas of black licorice, earth and lush berry. The palate has a great feel to it along with huge flavors of cassis, blackberry, black peppercorn, coffee and sweet coconut. Score Chasers: South America 2011
Dense on the nose, with a mix of black fruit aromas and mild herbs. The palate is properly acidic and elevated, with complex flavors of coconut, plum, berry, mocha, chocolate and spice. Quite oaky but the oak comes across well, i.e. friendly mocha and coffee. 64% Malbec with 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Tannat.  — M.S.  (8/1/2011)

Finca Decero 2006 Amano Remolinos Vineyard Red (Agrelo)

An interesting, unusual style of Mendoza wine. The nose offers unexpected aromas of fern, cured meats and flowers, while the palate shows syrupy blueberry and cassis flavors. It’s clean and honest but heavy, with saturation and some clunkiness. A heavyweight that hits with power.  — M.S.  (12/1/2008)

Finca Decero 2009 Remolinos Vineyard Malbec (Agrelo)

  1. $20
Big, fleshy and dark in color, with a bold, heavy nose of black fruits, baked richness and sweet characteristics. The palate is chunky and full, with blackberry, baked plum, fig and herbal flavors. A saturated, lusty style of Malbec that’s deep like cake and just about as sweet.  — M.S.  (8/1/2011)

Finca Decero 2007 Remolinos Vineyard Malbec (Agrelo)

  1. $23
Smoky, earthy and ripe, with a hint of berry syrup to the bouquet. The feel is big but it maintains agility, and while the flavor profile shows herbal qualities, the raspberry and black cherry flavors are solid. Toasty and dark on the finish, with a lasting flavor of black licorice.  — M.S.  (12/1/2009)

Finca Decero 2009 Remolinos Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Agrelo)

  1. $22
Standard cherry and plum aromas create a straightforward bouquet. The feel is hot and choppy, but there’s enough body and balance for it to weigh in properly. Tastes of sweet cassis, kirsch and creamy chocolate, with an oaky finish containing cocoa notes.  — M.S.  (5/1/2012)

Finca Decero 2008 Remolinos Vineyard Malbec (Agrelo)

  1. $20
More exotic than many Malbecs, with intriguing aromas of prune, moss and savory berry. The palate has a proper, likeable texture and jammy flavors of black cherry and herbs. Finishes a bit short and hollow, which may be a reflection of tough harvest conditions in 2008.  — M.S.  (12/31/2010)
