Finca Torremilanos 2005 Crianza Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $30
An attractive, ripe wine that pushes up against raisiny but then draws back to focus on blackberry, licorice and other dark aromas and flavors. Very good weight and mouthfeel, with nice balance supporting ripe berry, cola and mild chocolate flavors. Finishes lush and warm. Drink now through 2011.  — M.S.  (2/1/2010)

Finca Torremilanos 2005 Torre Albéniz Reserva Red (Ribera del Duero)

  1. $50
A touch horsey at first, but with time it settles on saddle leather and earthy fruit. The palate is chunky and beefy, with some funk, chocolate and herbal black fruit. Not super spunky and lively, but dense as a brick and interesting. Drink now through 2014.  — M.S.  (6/1/2010)

Finca Torremilanos 2004 Torre Albéniz Reserva Red (Ribera del Duero)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $50
Bring on the barrels (and a chisel to cut through the tannins). Or just put it away in your cellar for a decade and let the fierce tannins and intensely toasted oak characteristics fade away. Early attackers will get hit with a wall of bitter chocolate, shoe polish and hickory blackness while digging into layers of tannin surrounding dark fruit, graphite and…  — M.S.  (11/15/2008)

Finca Torremilanos 2008 Torremilanos Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  1. $30
Lightly herbal on the nose, but otherwise it’s ripe and ready to go. The feel is slightly tannic and tight, but it’s as fresh and healthy as can be. Flavors of raspberry, red plum and mild spice are comported and correct. Finishes long, with vigor. Drink now through 2014.  — M.S.  (4/1/2012)

Finca Torremilanos 2004 Crianza Red (Ribera del Duero)

  1. $30
Serious crianza here, but one that takes a lot of time to unwind. Early tobacco, chocolate and rooty mulled-fruit aromas lead to a palate of tight tannins, narrow blackberry flavors and finally vanilla and oak. A little raw but more than solid.  — M.S.  (11/15/2008)

Finca Torremilanos 2009 Monte Castrillo Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $14
Oak is apparent on the front end, where milk chocolate and vanilla aromas vie with red berry scents. Feels full and forward, with standard, appealing berry fruit and cassis-like flavors. Toasty and a touch bitter on what amounts to a solid finish.  — M.S.  (2/1/2012)

Finca Torremilanos 2006 Torre Albéniz Reserva Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $50
Slightly roasted on the nose, with aromas of blackberry and a penetrating grassy note. The palate is authentic for RDD, with clipped, herbal flavors accenting soupy berry and bouillon. Finishes earthy, meaning there are leafy notes and dryness.  — M.S.  (7/1/2011)

Finca Torremilanos 2006 Los Cantos de Torremilanos Red (Ribera del Duero)

  1. $23
Not run-of-the-mill on the bouquet, where floral notes dance with dark fruit aromas, shoe polish and oil. The palate is more closed and choppy than ideal, with a gritty mouthfeel, ribald tannins and a closed palate that is focused but short. Not an overly generous wine, but it does walk the straight and narrow on its way to an honest ending.  — M.S.  (4/1/2009)
