A cool climate has given this wine bracing acidity and gentle-yet-persistent tannins. Its flavors of wild raspberries and cherries, with spice and mineral overtones, are delicious. There’s a feral quality that expresses umami perfectly, suggesting butter-sautéed, tamari-splashed mushrooms and crisped prosciutto. The oak is powerful and present in the form of toast…

This wine is an absolute joy to drink, and such a great expression of its Sonoma Coast vineyard. Its dryness, acidity and minerality highlight its terroir. Its texture is light and silky. Yet it’s immensely complex in flavors, suggesting red cherry, licorice and exotic spices that are so rich, they’re almost sweet in the finish. A tremendous Pinot Noir for drinking…

This is an intense, brilliantly focused wine that displays near perfect balance. The flavors are of fresh, savory lemondrop veering into spicy mango and are well oaked, while the acidity is superb, lending a steely tang to the richness. The finish lasts a full minute. This classic coast Chardonnay will hold and slowly become nutty and complex through the decade.

A classy, rich Pinot. It’s delicately structured, with a transparent silkiness. Tight in acidity and also somewhat tannic, but showing great finesse, with a spicy core of raspberries, cherries, cola, lime zest and minerals. Drink now and through 2015.

The acidity in this Chardonnay stars, giving it a mouthwatering tanginess. There’s a solid core of apricot, lime and tropical fruit flavors that give needed richness. A mineral note adds bracing grip. The dryness is just fine, keeping the wine worthy of repeated sipping. Overall, this is a food friendly wine; drink now–2016.

Opens with rich aromas of plum, oak, cocoa and green hay. Medium-weight and balanced with fine acidity and good tannic structure, this has potent, palate-filling plum, chocolate and spice flavors. The finish shows deep fruit and plush tannins. Best from 2004–2009+. Cellar Selection.

Big, extremely ripe, a bit hot in alcohol, definitely full-bodied for a Pinot, with humungous fruit and a scour of tough tannins. It was very hot in the coastal hills this vintage and the wines were bigger than usual. If you can get past the size, this wine is luscious.
