Fogdog 2009 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $35
Distinctly Sonoma Coast in the forest berry fruits and feral, earthy notes of anise, balsam and Dr. Pepper cola. Fine and silky in the mouth, with modest alcohol and a burst of cool-climate acidity. A more feminine style of Pinot, which is not to understate its power. Could easily develop over the next six years, but it’s pretty compelling now.  — S.H.  (12/31/2011)

Fogdog 2006 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast)

  1. $40
Just what you want from a Sonoma Coast Chard. It’s bone dry, crisp in cool-climate acidity, and elegant, with a minerally tang to the Meyer lemon fruit. Oak barrels bring richer notes of vanilla and buttered toast. Beautiful, and should hold through 2012.  — S.H.  (9/1/2009)

Fogdog 2010 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $35
Succeeds in playing the Chardonnay card just where consumers want it. With some new oak, it’s packed with tangerine, apricot, green apple and peach flavors, made brisk by acidity, and finished with honeyed ripeness.  — S.H.  (6/1/2012)

Fogdog 2007 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast)

  1. $55
A really good Chardonnay that shows the classic acidity and dryness of the Sonoma Coast, with complex, pleasurable flavors. Pineapples, pears, apricots and guavas are the fruits, enriched with sweet oak, in a dry, balanced and elegant wine that could develop bottle nuance over the next 2–4 years.  — S.H.  (7/1/2010)

Fogdog 2009 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $35
Another rich Chardonnay from Fogdog, which has a great track record. Crisp in coastal acidity, it’s enormously rich in pineapple, lime, buttered toast, crème brûlée and cinnamon spice flavors. Very elaborate and opulent, a wine to drink with lobster, scallops, grilled tuna.  — S.H.  (9/1/2011)

Fogdog 2008 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast)

  1. $35
Marked by big, sharp acidity, like biting into a lime, and clean, linear flavors of limes, green apples and pineapples, this bone-dry Chardonnay badly needs food to balance it out. Think of bacon-wrapped grilled shrimp, or a spicy Ahi tuna tartare dish.  — S.H.  (3/1/2011)

Fogdog 2008 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $35
One of the richer Pinots out there, just packed with ripe raspberries and cherries, like the filling in a pie. Shows great, cool-climate acidity, and the texture is as light and silky as can be. Defines the best of a drink-now style.  — S.H.  (3/1/2011)

Fogdog 2006 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)

  1. $40
Soft and a bit heavy, with jammy flavors of cherries, raspberries, anise, cedar and mocha. Delicious in the sheer voluptuousness of these tastes, but could use firmer structure.  — S.H.  (9/1/2009)
