Frogmore Creek NV 42°S Premier Cuvee Sparkling (Tasmania)
Editors' Choice
Price
$20
A lovely, refined sparkler from Tasmania (hence the 42 Degrees South name), this blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir is toasty and leesy, marked by savory mushroom and bright citrus notes and a long finish. Light and frothy in feel, it would make a fine apéritif.

Frogmore Creek 2007 Pinot Noir (Tasmania)
Price
$29
This rather chunky example of Tasmanian Pinot Noir isn’t typical of the genre, but impresses for its bold black-cherry fruit. Some menthol-like notes give it a slightly medicinal quality, but the persistent finish and fine tannins more than compensate. Drink this idiosyncratic effort over the next 4–5 years.

Frogmore Creek 2005 Estate Bottled Pinot Noir (Tasmania)
Online Exclusive
Price
$20
Starts off herbal and perfumed, then adds root beer, earth and cherry notes. It's distinctly Pinot Noir in style, with relatively light body and delicate structure finishing crisp. Flavors are savory, earthy and mushroomy, but with a top note of red cherries. A pretty, lightweight wine that would pair well with salmon.

Frogmore Creek 2005 Estate Bottled Chardonnay (Tasmania)

This wine comes across as strongly citrusy at first, then picks up more nuanced scents of pineapple and corn silk. It's round and amply endowed on the palate, with a lot of sweet corn character, but otherwise well done.

Frogmore Creek 2006 Estate Bottled Pinot Noir (Tasmania)

This medium-bodied Pinot Noir features pronounced herbal and spice elements that may not find universal acclaim. The oak-derived cinnamon and cedar notes dominate the nose, and the flavors lean toward wintergreen or sassafras. That said, there is ample cherry fruit as well, and a silky texture that lingers on the finish. Probably best now and over the next couple…
