Spicy, leathery aromas lead it off, and at no point is this a pure and polished prince. It’s a touch wild, as there’s lots of leather and drying tannins. Better at first, the fruit thins during tasting. Still, there’s more good cherry and earth here than mitigating factors. — M.S. (12/15/2003)
