Goats do Roam Wine Co. 2008 Goat-Roti Syrah-Viognier (Coastal Region)

  1. $20
A good value, this is an easy-pleasing Syrah with vibrant notes of red plum, cherry and blueberry. Fine, dusty tannins reminiscent of cocoa powder and dried crushed berries stay after swallow alongside a hint of sweet smoke flavor.  — L.B.  (3/1/2012)

Goats do Roam Wine Co. 2003 Goat-Roti Red (Western Cape)

  1. $18
From Charles Back comes another play on a Rhône wine, although this has Grenache and Carignan in addition to the Shiraz and Viognier. A tight nose of ripe, red fruit leads to a jammy, plum-filled palate layered with chocolate, oak spice and vanilla. Rich and dark, with a round mouthfeel, it finishes with spice and a little warmth. Imported by Vineyard Brands.  — M.D.  (7/1/2006)
