Gofessel 2008 Edina Chardonnay (Carneros)

  1. $50
Rich and opulent, a Chardonnay that swings for a home run and hits a solid double. Shows oak-inspired flavors of grilled pineapples, peaches, pears and minerals, balanced by crisp acidity, with a dry finish.  — S.H.  (12/31/2009)

Gofessel 2009 Edina Chardonnay (Carneros)

  1. $35
The vineyard is on the Sonoma side of the Carneros. The wine is very dry and brisk in acidity, and its pineapple fruit flavors are grounded with minerals. Oak plays a subtle role. The winemaker calls it a premier cru Chablis-style wine, which is not a bad description, although it’s only ageable for 2–3 years before it plunges downhill.  — S.H.  (11/1/2010)
