Gold Hill 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon (El Dorado)

The grapes are real nice and ripe here, offering up flavors of blackberries and cherries that are succulent and mellow. Smoky oak adds the spicy, sweetly woody nuances from barrel aging. A problem is that the wine is too soft and a little flabby. —S.H.
