Goundrey 2002 Offspring Cabernet Sauvignon (Western Australia)
Price
$15
Has rich coffee or capuccino notes on the nose, and reined-in mixed-berry fruit flavors that are juicy but blessedly not too sweet. Slim in body, this is the kind of Cab that will show best at the dinner table, with gravied meats and spaghetti alike.

Goundrey 2002 Offspring Shiraz (Western Australia)
Price
$15
Blackberries and blueberries star on the palate; the nose, on the other hand, is all about black pepper. A slimmer-sized Shiraz rather than a huge, jammy one. Imported by R. H. Phillips.

Goundrey 2005 Offspring Riesling (Western Australia)
Price
$13
Peachy from nose to palate, with melon in a supporting role. Medium-bodied and dry; an easy, enjoyable, apéritif-style white.

Goundrey 2003 Offspring Cabernet Sauvignon (Western Australia)
Price
$16
Offers crisp wintergreen notes on the nose followed by plum and cherry flavors. A little light in terms of heft and concentration, but is certainly well made and pleasing. Imported by Vincor.

Goundrey 2002 Offspring Chardonnay (Western Australia)
Price
$15
It's difficult to find many Western Australian wines at this price, and this Chard is a good introduction to how good the wines out there can be. White peach, citrus and soy aromas preface peach and oak flavors on the palate. An easy-drinking wine, and one that's made to please everyone.

Goundrey 2003 Offspring Chardonnay (Western Australia)
Price
$16
There’s a fair amount of citrus and peach fruit in this Western Oz Chard. The oak flavors here are not overwhelming, but the texture does have a pulpy, woody character. Finishes short; most of the action here is on the palate. Imported by R. H. Phillips.

Goundrey 1999 Shiraz-Grenache Red (South Eastern Australia)
Price
$13
The Grenache introduces an interesting stone-fruit influence to this 60-40 blend, something akin to peaches. There’s also plenty of smoky, toasty oak, dried spices and chocolate, ending on a liqueur-like note. Full and supple; drink now. —J.C.
