Gracia de Chile 2006 Caminante Red (Cachapoal Valley)

  1. $50
A creamy, ripe, almost syrupy wine with a jammy essence and some mint to the nose. Dark as night in color, rich in berry and cassis flavors, and finishes with a dose of prune. Smooth and deep Cabernet Sauvignon with 23% Syrah and 7% Cab Franc. Shows all the trimmings: coconut, chocolate and depth. Drink now through 2011.  — M.S.  (12/31/2009)

Gracia de Chile 2006 Sereno Reserva Lo Mejor Santa Ana Estate Pinot Noir (Bío Bío Valley)

  1. $20
Lo Mejor is the most elevated, worldly Pinot in the Corpora group’s portfolio (Veranda, Porta and Agustinos are others). It is ripe and smoky, with alluring berry aromas and smooth black cherry and raspberry flavors. It’s warm and a bit fiery on the finish, but with food that won’t be a big factor. A good example of what Bío Bío can do with Pinot Noir.  — M.S.  (9/1/2008)

Gracia de Chile 2005 Reserva Superior Syrah-Grenache-Viognier (Cachapoal Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $15
One of the more perfumed Chilean red wines you’re likely to encounter. The Viognier and Grenache bring a floral, bouncy element, while the Syrah contributes smoky accents, chocolate and power. An interesting Rhône-style blend with its own alluring character.  — M.S.  (3/1/2008)

Gracia de Chile 2007 Reserva Lo Mejor Sereno Pinot Noir (Bío Bío Valley)

  1. $15
Full and stocky on the nose, with a mild pine and juniper accent. The palate features good feel and thickness, while the raspberry and plum flavors are complete and juicy. Dry and spicy on the finish, and correct within the global pool of Pinot Noir.  — M.S.  (12/31/2009)

  1. $14
A little funky and murky at first, but airing reveals meaty, leathery aromas. The palate is solid and shows good balance, while the flavors of berry and cherry fruit carry an herbal element. Finishes mildly peppery and bitter, but also floral and spicy.  — M.S.  (12/1/2010)

Gracia de Chile 2006 Reserva Estate Vineyard Carmenère (Curicó Valley)

  • Best Buy
  1. $12
Ripe and pure with blackberry and olive aromas, and the flavors of black fruits mixed with some meatiness and cola are true and tasty. The feel is a touch racy and acidic, but that’s working to keep this balanced.  — M.S.  (9/1/2007)

Gracia de Chile 2006 Reserve Pinot Noir (Bío Bío Valley)

  • Best Buy
  1. $11
Surprise! This is a legitimate, true to the variety Pinot Noir from southerly Bío Bío Valley. The wine has dryness and balance, a little wood, and pure aromas and flavors of raspberry, cherry ice tea and chocolate. It’s lively and streamlined on the palate, so it will work with food. A definite winner in an emerging category that is Chilean Pinot.  — M.S.  (11/15/2007)

Gracia de Chile 2007 Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon (Rapel Valley)

  • Best Buy
  1. $11
Nice berry fruit aromas with a touch of sweetness set this off in good form. The palate is solid and well balanced in terms of feel, while flavors of cassis and berry show a little bit of oak-based vanilla. Textbook and straight from central casting, but satisfying and not the least bit difficult.  — M.S.  (11/15/2008)
