Rich, savory and interesting to drink. In fact, it’s probably the best Grove Street Cabernet in years. Dry and fruity, it shows firm tannins bracing the blackberry and cherry flavors.

The well-ripened black currant and jammy blackberry pie fruit is delicious, and the wine, at nearly 5 years, shows few traces of its age. Has the lush, ripe tannins that exemplify Napa. A minor quibble is a sharpness on the finish.

This is an appealing Chardonnay. It’s a little sweet in apricot jam, peach, green apple, honey and buttered toast flavors, but the sweetness is balanced with crisp, citrusy acidity and a nice cut of minerality.

You’ll find plenty of Pinot character in this dry, crisp wine. It shows cola, cherry, rhubarb and tea flavors and the elegantly silky mouthfeel that Carneros achieves with the variety. Drink now.

Aromas of bell pepper, hummus, blackberry jam, and a whiff of charcoal. The fruit hits the palate with the subtlety of a hammer; it’s superripe and sugary (although technically dry). Soft tannins make it velvety smooth. The only complaint is an earthy roughness. Best Buy.

There’s real finesse and flavor in this soft, supple wine. It shows plush blackberry, cherry and herb flavors wrapped in rich but easy tannins. This is a decent price for a wine of this quality.

Here’s a great value in Cabernet. It’s from a super vintage, and brims with well-ripened aromas and flavors of currants, blackberries, mocha and smoky oak. Drinks very dry, with smooth tannins and an opulent mouthfeel. Buy this by the case.

A new label in Sonoma County; this wine is named after a pioneering doctor, Herbert Honor. Aromas are predominantly tangerine, with a hint of coconut and oak. The citrus flavors continue on the palate. Drinks a bit rough, but people looking for a bargain in well-ripened, slightly sweet, oaky Chard will like it.
