Hacienda del Plata 2005 Mayoral Grande Reserve Malbec (Luján de Cuyo)

  1. $32
A touch of green is present on the bouquet, while cassis and raspberry aromas fill in the blanks. The palate is creamy and a touch sticky, with raspberry, plum and coconut flavors. A good wine with limitations; it’s smooth but unctuous, with a full mouthfeel and good, familiar flavors.  — M.S.  (2/1/2009)

Hacienda del Plata 2003 Zagal Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendoza)

  1. $15
So woody at first you’d think you had entered a sawmill, but with time it settles down. Red berries, milk chocolate and wood spice work the palate, followed by lean fruit leftovers and vanilla.  — M.S.  (6/1/2006)

Hacienda del Plata 2002 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendoza)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $24
Too many things to take issue with here for it to rate any higher. The nose features chocolate-covered raisin and tomato sauce, while the lean palate deals brambly cherry and berry flavors. Lacks persistence and notable bright spots.  — M.S.  (8/1/2006)

Hacienda del Plata 2005 Sauvignon Blanc (Mendoza)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $15
Light yellow in tint, with big tropical aromas centering on melon. Tastes more lemony and dry than the nose might suggest, with a strong, astringent blast of green apple on the finish.  — M.S.  (8/1/2006)

Hacienda del Plata 2002 Zagal Malbec (Mendoza)

  1. $15
Green and austere, with burnt grass on the nose and palate. Cranberry fruit is sharp; not a prime-timer. Barely acceptable.  — M.S.  (6/1/2006)
