Heidsieck & Co Monopole NV Blue Top Premier Cru Sparkling (Champagne)

  1. $39
Impressively fine bubbles cascade up from the bottom of the glass, suggesting richness and elegance. There’s a lush creaminess in the mouth, packed with flavors of candied orange, apricot and pineapple. The wine scores a flavor bulls eye in every possible way, from the textured, enticing bouquet to the rich, mouth-filling fruit and on through the lingering, precise…  — P.G.  (12/1/2006)

Heidsieck & Co Monopole NV Blue Top Premiers Crus Sparkling (Champagne)

  1. $39
Round and mature, with yeasty, almost doughy aromas. Yet there’s vivid fruit in the mouth, mostly apple and citrus. Finely textured, with a long, classy, complex finish featuring mild baked notes but also pulsating, acid-based fruit. Imported by Vranken America.  — M.S.  (12/15/2005)

Heidsieck & Co Monopole 1988 Diamant Rosé Sparkling (Champagne)

  1. $70
Maybe this wine is an acquired taste, but for lovers of older Champagne, this 15-year-old wine is fascinating. Its mature orange-pink color, closer to the color of sunrise than sunset, and aromas of ripe, toasty fruit set the scene. To taste, it is toasty, woody with layers of rich fruit and flavors of vanilla and spices.  — R.V.  (12/15/2003)

Heidsieck & Co Monopole NV Diamant Blanc Sparkling (Champagne)

  1. $50
A wonderful Chardonnay-based bubbly, tight and muscular, with a profusion of sleek green fruits. Compact and somewhat slow to reveal its inner depths, this ageworthy bottle gradually unfolds into a textured, creamy and seductive, multilayered treat.  — P.G.  (12/15/2002)

Heidsieck & Co Monopole NV Extra Dry Sparkling (Champagne)

  1. $37
Sharp, spicy fruit flavors lead into a thick, edgy, crisply defined sparkling wine with plenty of power. The heft and authority are there, but some softening around the edges would enhance the overall palate impression. Time should make this an even better bottle.  — P.G.  (12/15/2000)

Heidsieck & Co Monopole 1995 Diamant Bleu Pinot-Chardonnay (Champagne)

  1. $130
This is Heidsieck Monopole's aperitif Champagne. Still young, it is light, crisp, dry and fruity, with flavors of the maturing Pinot Noir and the fresh, yeasty Chardonnay. It is in great balance now, a lively eager wine, ready to please.  — R.V.  (12/1/2004)

Heidsieck & Co Monopole 1989 Diamant Bleu Sparkling (Champagne)

  1. $70
Really fine for a low-acid vintage, there’s an intriguing nose here with white pepper, sandalwood and pine-nut elements. There are mature notes to the apple, toast and pepper flavors, good backbone, and the texture is just lovely. This well-developed example still has youthful elements, and closes with a grapefruit-mineral finish that is both relaxed and complex.  — M.M.  (12/31/2000)

Heidsieck & Co Monopole 1995 Diamant Bleu Sparkling (Champagne)

  1. $120
Toasty and rich-smelling, like brioche, but it isn’t one-dimensional, as it picks up fruitier notes of apple and citrus. Ends on a chalky note. Imported by Vranken America.  — J.C.  (12/1/2005)
