Dusty, pale coppery color and scents of pears and bubble gum. Ripe, round and fruity, with lots of tropical flavors and some perceptible sweetness.  — P.G.  (2/1/2006)

Henry Estate 2001 Müller-Thurgau (Umpqua Valley)

  • Best Buy
  1. $9
This is a quaffable (about 10% alcohol), off, dry white wine, with intense, clean, lovely floral flavors. Citrus and citrus blossom mingle, making it almost like a still version of Prosecco. There is a surprisingly long finish with spicy floral flavors, intense and flavorful.  — P.G.  (8/1/2002)

Henry Estate 1999 Pinot Gris (Umpqua Valley)

  1. $16
Henry Estate is not known for its Pinot Gris because this is only the second year they have produced any significant quantity. It’s a light blush-colored, musk-scented wine, with plenty of pear fruit and spice, good flesh and a crisp follow-through.  — P.G.  (2/1/2002)

Henry Estate 1999 Pinot Noir (Oregon)

  1. $51
Medium-weight, with solid, red cherry, black plum, cedar and cinnamon aromas and flavors. Though a bit too woody and dry for some panelists, others praised the soy and dry-rub spiced fruit on the palate. The very dark close shows lingering toasty oak, pepper and espresso notes. Drink now through 2006.  — W.E.  (10/1/2002)

Henry Estate 1996 Barrel Select Pinot Noir (Umpqua Valley)

  1. $20
Displays a tight nose with barnyardy, almost espresso coffee notes. Dark cherry, licorice and earthy flavors mark this engaging wine. Full mouthfeel with a long tannic finish, this is an interesting wine that needs a year or two to fully develop.  — W.E.  (11/15/1999)

Henry Estate 1998 Barrel Select Pinot Noir (Umpqua Valley)

  1. $25
This is a reserve style wine that is made in non-reserve years. A step up from their “Umpqua” bottling, with more texture, firm fruit and it moves past light cherry flavors into some tart berry.  — P.G.  (8/1/2002)

Henry Estate 2000 Pinot Noir (Umpqua Valley)

  • Best Buy
  1. $13
Here is an unusual mix of scents: pine needle, barnyard and earthy, cherry fruit. A good-value wine, with plenty of cherry flavor, augmented by a hint of chicken coop. Balanced, soft tannins finish it out. About 3000 cases made. Best Buy. —P.G.  — P.G.  (12/31/2002)
