Hollywood & Vine 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $75
Richly textured and lush on the palate, this smooth, complex wine offers a fine taste of what Napa Cabernet can achieve. Black cherry, cassis, blackberry, tar, chocolate, herb and earth notes are well integrated and layered. Firm, ripe tannins frame the ensemble, which finishes long.  — J.M.  (6/1/2002)

Hollywood & Vine 2001 Chardonnay (Napa Valley)

  1. $40
Smooth and creamy textured, with lovely toast and spice notes up front. Melon, pear, apple, mandarine orange and lemon flavors are evenly balanced. The wine is crisp and clean on the finish, yet also long and fresh. -J.M.  — J.M.  (6/1/2003)

Hollywood & Vine 2004 2480 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $78
This Cab shows an ultrasoft mouthfeel together with fairly aggressive tannins, suggesting an inherent imbalance. The flavors are complex, with herb- and tobacco-tinged blackberry, mocha and cherry fruit mingled with spicy oak. The tight tannins suggest aging, while the absence of acidity mitigates against it. Probably best now.  — S.H.  (11/1/2007)

Hollywood & Vine 2006 2480 Chardonnay (Napa Valley)

  1. $45
The grapes come from Atlas Peak, and while the wine is dry, it’s very soft, which gives the ultraripe apricots and peaches a syrupy taste. The caramelly oak adds to the feeling of heaviness.  — S.H.  (11/1/2007)
