This is a richly fruity, full-bodied wine with lots of sweet blackberry, plum and cherry-chocolate flavors. It’s dry and clean, with soft, complex tannins. There’s real distinction here, from a part of California you don’t hear much about.

The nose is big and bold—this is not about subtlety but instead it’s focused on heavy pineapple and other tropical fruits. The palate is loaded with bright lemony notes and softer pear and apple accents. Hefty and forward; not terribly deft.

From the Sierra Foothills, this well-structured, dark wine offers ripe blue- and blackberry fruit, with leather and espresso accents. The palate’s lively plum and pepper flavors are nicely integrated with the oak used here, and flow into a dry finish with even, moderate tannins.

The Sierra Foothills region has proven its ability to make good Cab Franc, and this one, from 1,800 feet up, is flavored with red-berry fruit. It lacks some body in the middle palate, making it too soft, but it's an easy to like wine, especially at this price.

Rough, fruity, and earthy, it has some hot vintage flavors of raisins, and a peppery finish that suggests overripe, pruny grapes. ItÕs a dry wine, with soft acidity and soft tannins. What it has going for it are ripely sweet, sunny fruit and berry flavors that would be nice with barbecue.
