J. Bouchon 2006 Mingre Red (Maule Valley)
Price
$40
Full-bodied, rich and packed with sweet fruit, Mingre signals that J. Bouchon is ready for prime time. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Carmenère and Syrah that tips the scales with heft and concentration. It’s slightly herbal and warm, with a creamy, well-oaked palate and flavors of blackberry and black plum. Needs some time in bottle.

J. Bouchon 2006 Las Mercedes Reserva Especial Carmenère (Maule Valley)
Price
$16
A little herbal and green-ish, but not too much so. The nose has varietal aromas of pepper, bramble and oregano, but the palate is smooth and medium in depth, with cola, licorice and creamy vanilla accents working off a solid core of plum. Finishes reasonably long and warm.

J. Bouchon 2003 Premium Assemblage Red (Maule Valley)
Online Exclusive
Price
$27
Bouchon’s top-shelf red begins leathery and minty, with background red-fruit aromas poking through. The palate is lively and juicy, with slightly sheer and grabby tannins creating some jaggedness. Finishes in solid fashion, with weight and clarity. .

J. Bouchon 2003 Reserva Especial Cabernet Sauvignon (Maule Valley)
Price
$14
Fairly herbal in its aromas: olive, pepper and tomato run the show. More olive character leads the savory palate, with dark fruit running second. Tight but not tannic, with a medium to full mouthfeel.

J. Bouchon 2004 Reserva Especial Carmenère (Maule Valley)
Price
$14
Olive aromas greet you, followed by chocolate, plum and basic berry flavors. A solid wine with body, but there isn't much in the way of depth or complexity. Full and medium in tannins.

J. Bouchon 2004 Merlot (Maule Valley)

Price

Murky at first, with emerging aromas of animal cookies and berries. Lean and choppy in the mouth, with red fruit softened by chocolate and marshmallow notes. Runs a bit sticky.

J. Bouchon 2004 Reserva Especial Malbec (Maule Valley)
Online Exclusive
Price
$14
Unrefined, chunky and reduced is how you'd best describe this compact Malbec that is packed too tight with unrelenting plum and berry fruit that also tastes of beets. Has its merits, but in the end it doesn't grow on your palate.
