Jaffelin 1997 White (Meursault)
Price
$40
Solid and correct, with a buttery feel that’s balanced off by crisp fruit and lively acids. In these days of so many marginal négociant wines, this one can hold its head high. Shows plenty of clean lemon and citrus flavor, glycerin and backbone.

Jaffelin 2008 Pinot Noir (Nuits-St.-Georges)
Price
$50
Yes, there are some tannins and a chunky texture. But this wine is more simple Pinot Noir than structured Nuits-St-Georges. Its acidity and sweet blackberry fruits offer an attractive combination of freshness and jamminess. Not for aging.
