Joseph Drouhin Wines

Founded in 1880, Burgundy-based Joseph Drouhin Domaine is one of the largest estates in the region, with vineyard holdings in Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. Many of the grapes hail from grand cru and premier cru sites, such as the Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru in Côte de Beaune and the Corton Grand Cru in the Côte de Beaune. Stylistically, Joseph Drouhin wines combine balance, harmony and finesse, and many of Drouhin’s greatest wines possess cellar-worthy longevity. These wines ultimately develop beautiful bottle-age complexities. For more information on this Burgundian producer’s wines, visit our Joseph Drouhin Ratings.

Joseph Drouhin 2002 Grands Echézeaux Pinot Noir (Echézeaux)

  1. $179
A dark, immensly tannic wine at this stage, this has firm, powerful dry fruit. It is still just feeling its way at this stage, a wine that can last 15–20 years at least.  — R.V.  (9/1/2004)

Joseph Drouhin 2003 Pinot Noir (Clos Vougeot)

  • Online Exclusive
A superbly ripe wine, full of rich tense tannins and big black fruits. There is a depth of flavor in this wine which is remarkable, focusing on a dry structure, very rich fruit, layers of wood and a finishing fresh acidity. This is a wine which will age over many years.  — R.V.  (12/31/2006)

Joseph Drouhin 2004 Marquis de Laguiche Chardonnay (Montrachet)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $596
This is a beautifully shaped wine that rises from a quiet opening. Muted and slightly closed up at this stage, it opens opulently but with balanced acidity and crispness, as well as richness and restrained power.  — R.V.  (12/1/2006)

The magnificent wines from the Marquis de Laguiche estate are produced by Joseph Drouhin. This Morgeot is rich, intense, beautifully concentrated. It has toast, apricot and peach fruits to go with its tight mineral texture. Delicious now, but will age for many years.  — R.V.  (5/1/2011)

Joseph Drouhin 2006 Pinot Noir (Musigny)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $380
For many, this vineyard offers the purest form of Pinot Noir, a seductive, opulent style, with rich fruits dominant, the powerful acidity deceptively sweet. Add to this a tight, firm, smoke-and-toast tannic structure, and this is not only a fine wine now, but one with long-term potential. Keep for at least six years.  — R.V.  (10/1/2009)

Joseph Drouhin 2004 Pinot Noir (Clos de la Roche)

  1. $112
Great power, delicious fruit and dusty tannins are all present in an elegant parcel. This is an impressive wine, with a balanced structure and texture. And the fruit is so ripe, so seductive without going over the top. Drink in 2012.  — R.V.  (3/1/2007)

Joseph Drouhin 2008 Pinot Noir (Charmes-Chambertin)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $164
Structured, concentrated, a wine that shows power from both fruit and tannins. The opulent strawberry flavors are paralleled by firm, dry tannins. As the combination comes together, this will become a glorious wine.  — R.V.  (7/1/2011)
