Josetta Saffirio’s classic Barolo (from the Monforte d’Alba area of the Langhe) opens with enticing notes of chocolate, mocha and smoky pipe tobacco. There’s a delicate touch of white mineral or chalk that gives the wine backbone and a drying feel on the close.

Josetta Saffirio 2007 Persiera Nebbiolo (Barolo)
Representing a stylistic break from last vintage, this edition of Barolo Persiera offers more soapy, floral tones of violets and lavender followed by barrel aromas of moist earth and spice. The 2006 vintage seemed bolder and more extracted. This edition is also less intense, but more streamlined and focused on the close.
